As you can imagine we are currently flat out making last minute preparations to the 10K so will try and answer your e-mail Q&A’s as soon as we can.
Before you bombard us with enquiries few updates as follows;
- Race Numbers – some have already been sent out, others are going out this week so please allow until after the bank holiday weekend to say your number hasn’t arrived. We have time to sort as race isn’t to the 12th May and you will be guaranteed a number as we have spares.

BEWARE: please don’t run in someone else’s number – it’s against UKA rules, causes incorrect results, confusion in the event of accident and will lead to disqualification and forfeit of prizes. We offer FREE race transfer so it costs nothing to save us hours of inconvenience trying to work out results when someone runs in someone else’s number!

a. Main car park between 8am and 10:30am

e. Start and finish area 10:30am to 12:30pm

MD10k FUN RUN
FUN RUN – there will be NO entries for sale on the day. Please collect your numbers from the Fun Run tent between 8am and 9.30am. Races start at 9.45am prompt on the main field (and will conclude before the start of the Müller-MD10k 2019 at 11.00am). We start with the Toddler Wobble, then race for 3-4yrs and so on until the combined 11/12yrs & 13/14yrs 2k race. Each race will have a different start line but all have the same finish.
All runners in the Toddler Wobble are encouraged to have fun and enjoy their event – we realise many will require support at arms length and so we have decided they will all be winners. Please let them ‘run’ at their own pace and be mindful of other toddlers. They will all receive a medal, drink and gingerbread man.
Runners in all other age groups will receive their medal, drink and goody bag once over the finish line. The winning boy and girl in each of the 3/4yrs to 9/10yrs races should confirm their names to the Fun Run Team and they will also receive a certificate which can be collected immediately after all races have concluded. Winners in the 11-12yrs and 13-14yrs 2k categories are invited to collect their trophies on the stage at prizegiving (approx 12.30) but if they prefer not to, or are unable to wait until then, please speak with a member of the Fun Run Team immediately after all Fun Run races have concluded.
We appreciate that young children need parents/carers in close proximity but for health and safety reasons the children must have freedom to run unhindered in their races – adults must therefore stay behind the runners in each race at all times or, if age appropriate, remain behind the side ropes or beyond the finish line. We will keep little children at the finish to ensure that all are able to quickly and safely re-unite with the person responsible for them.

Thanks you for being part of the Müller Market Drayton 10K 2019, our town’s annual road race.
Every year is a greater challenge and this is year is no exception as our committee just gets smaller, just a handful of them, whilst the event gets bigger as we are expecting 2700 runners this year. All our committee hold full time employment so all the 10K work is done voluntary in their own spare time so we apologise if we have missed the odd e-mail or not got back to you immediately.
We are pleased to have Müller back on board this year as this race has had very close links to Müller from our first race back in 2004 as it was a team from that Müller that reinstated the Market Drayton 10k after several years of absence. With the additional support from Müller we aim to make this event bigger and better.
This event would not be the success it is without the generous sponsors support both financial and / or items in our goody bag, or the hundreds of volunteers that support the management team to ensure the event runs like clockwork and also the 2,700 competitors that take part and the hundreds that live in the town that come out and support the event. Also special mention the Market Drayton running club who play a big part in this race with help of packing goody bags, marshaling and support for the fun run. We also have excellent support from the scouts who run the baggage tent, cadets, scouts and guides who also make this event possible as do the Grove School who without their venue we wouldn’t be able to hold an event this size.

Müller-MD10k 2019 IS SOLD OUT – There will be no entries for sale on the day.
LOST/FORGOTTEN RACE NUMBER/CHIP – if it has not been delivered please contact Market Drayton 10k by email (email@example.com) or via Facebook Messenger by Thursday 9th May latest. You will not be charged for any race numbers lost in the post providing you contact by this date. All other replacements e.g. you’ve lost it or simply forgotten to bring it , please report to HQ on arrival. A £5 admin fee may be charged on this occasion.
RACE TRANSFERS – these are permitted until 10:15am on race day. A race transfer will need to be done. On race day, these changes can be done at the race HQ tent which is on the main Grove School field. BEWARE: please don’t run in someone else’s number – it’s against UKA rules, causes incorrect results, confusion in the event of accident and will lead to disqualification.
TOILETS – most toilets, with urinals behind them, will be discreetly placed behind the stalls to the left hand side of the field as you walk towards the start. There will be other toilets elsewhere on the field. We are not permitted to use toilets within the school.
WATER STATIONS – there will be two main stations providing bottled water; at approx. 4k and at the finish line. Only in the event of extremely hot weather will a third station be placed at approx 7k.
IPODS & MP3 Players – the UK Athletics rules of competition are clear that “in ear” headphones cannot be used in events where roads are open to traffic. However, England Athletics has an exciting partnership with AfterShokz, the number one bone conducting headphone brand. Bone conducting headphones are the only earphones that are approved for use in all road races under the UK Athletics rules of competition.
COMPLIMENTARY T-SHIRT – Müller-MD10K runners can collect their shirt from the local Guides on the field from 8:30am until 10.30am upon production of their race number. Whilst we do our best to allocate the t-shirt you requested, late entries and race number changes cannot be guaranteed of the exact size as we have to order these months before race day and cannot change the sizes once this has been done. After the event is over you are welcome to go back to the t-shirt area to swap sizes should your size still be available.
FREE BAG DROP – your possessions may be left at our complimentary bag drop situated in the Scouts marquee on the main field near the start area. Affix the tear off strip from your race number/chip securely to your bag when dropping it off. For security reasons, collection will only be authorised upon presentation of the matching race number. We cannot accept liability for any items that are lost.

MEDALS & GOODY BAGS – once you cross the finish line at MD10k 2019 please walk into the barrier funnel. You will soon receive a bottle of water…. and then your well earned & fabulous medal… and then a goody bag… and then an armful of local produce. These complimentary gifts are provided to you with the compliments of the Müller-MD10k Management Team & continued generosity of our sponsors and advertisers.
PRIZE GIVING – please stay and congratulate our prizewinners. Presentations will commence about 12.30. Fun run trophies for first placed boy & girl in our 2k race for 11-12yr & 13-14yr categories will be followed by the presentation of trophies to the junior Müller-MD10k 2019 winners (15-17yrs). Presentations will then be made in reverse order concluding with the winning male and female runners. Should the course record be broken (male and/or female) a £50 bonus will be paid. Any prizewinner unable to remain for the presentation is asked to leave confirmed contact details at HQ or with one of the MD10k team to enable their prize to be forwarded. FREE PARK & RIDE – we urge you to make use of our complimentary and dedicated coach service which includes extensive free parking for your vehicles. 5 x 53 seater coaches will continuously relay throughout the day from 08.30am – until last bus leaves Grove School at 14.30 (with a break between 11 – 11.45 whilst the race is on). Transfer journey time is approx. 10 minutes but please allow at least 20 minutes for loading/unloading.
Car park and pick-up/drop-off is with the kind compliments of Barbers Auction Market which is situated in the industrial estate at Adderley Road, Market Drayton, TF9 3SW, (directly off the roundabout junction of A53 / A529) and from where our stewards will direct you. This car park is not affected by road closures during the race. Our stewards will remain at the Park & Ride throughout. Between 10.00am and 11.00am please allow priority to 10k Runners (there will be an identified ‘bus stop’ for those runners who choose to fast track to the field).
CAR PARKING – there is limited car parking at Grove School accessed off Great Hales Street (not the main gate). NOTE: If you park at the Grove School, due to safety reasons you will not be allowed to depart the car park until 12:30 as we will still have runners completing the course. So if you need to leave early please do not park at the Grove School. There are also public car parks available – all of which are signposted within Market Drayton and are approx. 5-10 minutes walk from the event.
PLEASE NOTE: Lidl, Asda, Homebase and Morrisons are not public car parks but private parking for their customers. They are monitored by the stores who can issue parking fines if misused.
REFRESHMENTS – quality caterers will be sited on the field providing a selection of hot and cold food and drink throughout the day. This year you will also be able to buy alcohol & soft drinks should you or your supporters wish to. We encourage you to purchase from our traders as they support the event.
ENTERTAINMENT/ STALLS – on the field offering a variety of entertainment, displays and information, some of which is provided to you free of charge, are many stalls some of which are fund raising and/or raising awareness of various charities or local good causes. Others have interesting things for you to look at, games for you to play, fun fair rides for the children to enjoy and other items for you to purchase. Please support our stall holders – they help to make Müller-MD10k the event that it has become. We also ask that you remain with us for presentation of prizes at approx. 12.30.
ROAD CLOSURES – we enforce some of our road closures for the entire duration of the race to protect our runners & spectators. Drivers who choose to park cars within the town on public roads and car parks adjacent to the route will not be permitted to pass through the route until the road is re-opened by marshals and (dependent on where sited) potentially until entire race is over (approx. 12.30) – this is for safety reasons. Please be mindful of this and utilise the FREE PARK & RIDE if you intend to leave early.
EMERGENCY VEHICLES – In the event of an emergency vehicle needing access through the route AT ANY TIME runners and spectators MUST IMMEDIATELY move aside and LET IT PASS unhindered – road barriers will be moved aside by marshals if necessary.
RACE MARSHALS – we have many volunteer marshals on duty throughout the day who have willingly given up their time to support and protect you during the race. They are placed at regular and strategic locations around the route; please support them and abide by any instructions they give as this will be for your safety and wellbeing. Please alert them to any issue that may compromise safety, or in the event that a runner or spectator is injured or unwell and in need of treatment.
FIRST AID – our dedicated medical team will be at strategic places on the route. In the event of a runner or spectator becoming injured or unwell please make a marshal aware as they are able to contact the medical team manager who will direct medical personnel to attend the injured party.
LOST/FOUND CHILDREN – our Scout leaders at the bag drop will take care of them until you can be safely reunited – a relevant public announcement will be made. Please identify this safe location to your children on arrival.

UNFORTUNATELY LAST YEAR WE HAD MANY PEOPLE UNFAIRLY BOOKING MANY PLACES IN THEIR OWN NAME – WITH THE INTENTION OF ‘RESERVING’ THESE PLACES FOR THEIR FRIENDS IN CASE THEY DIDN’T MANAGE TO SECURE A PLACE THEMSELVES. THIS RESULTED NOT ONLY IN MANY GENUINE ENTRANTS MISSING OUT ON A PLACE BUT ALSO CAUSED HUNDREDS OF UN-NECESSARY TRANSFER REQUESTS – SOME AS LATE AS A WEEK BEFORE THE RACE – WHICH WAS A HUGE ADMINISTRATIVE BURDEN AND IS UNACCEPTABLE.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY BULK PURCHASES / DUPLICATE BOOKINGS IN THE SAME NAME WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REFUNDED, CANCELLED AND RE-SOLD WITHOUT FURTHER WARNING OR PRIOR CONSULTATION.
The above does not mean you can’t book 10 places on one booking what it means is you can’t have the same runner listed 10 times if you book 10 places you need 10 different names.
